It's so nice to document them and actually remember what life was like. I was trying to do once a year, but forgot last year. Last year was also just a damn hard year, so it wasn't even on my radar to do photography projects. So glad to be back to it now, though. I'm thinking a few times a year makes more sense. :)

I wish I'd taken more pics on my DITL this week, but I decided to push through even though I was "failing" and camera batteries were dying, and I wasn't even snapping all that many photos, bah!! I'm still glad with how it turned out, though.

Also, I agree about not buying a kid a toy every time you're at the store. I usually try to give my child a head's up before we even go inside, by saying, "Today we are just LOOKING, we're not buying any toys, okay?" And I make sure he understands what I'm saying, and then we go in the store. It really helps him to know what to expect. So just thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps. My own mom would tell me if it was a "looking day" or a "buying day," and it really helped us too. She'd alternate, and buying days, once we were old enough, were a good lesson in budgeting, because she told us we could only get something if it was 5 dollars or less. And when we wanted something that was more like ten dollars, she said we could have it if we waited until the NEXT buying day (which would be not the next time we went to the store, but the following time, so two more trips away!). It was hard to wait, but sometimes I did, and it was cool, learning delayed gratification, having something to look forward to, and plan for, and she let it be my decision too, while guiding us through the decision making process. Anyway that really helped me and hope it might help you too. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142641886866606480.post-58907556069384777882014-03-08T12:56:36.908-05:002014-03-08T12:56:36.908-05:00I don't buy things for my kids every time we g...I don't buy things for my kids every time we go out at all....he never asks....but it's ME that feels guilty like I should buy him something every time! It's a really good lesson to instill for sure.
